The little Charmer
* 07-20-2010
† 11-14-2022
Chester was our first male dog. Like Mystic, we kept him from our 2010 litter. From the moment of his birth, he presented himself as a "smooth" little guy. Chester was very drawn to people; he was easy to handle with a particularly strong Will To Please. In the field, he was very fast, ambitious and charged with full force.
The crucial factor that made us say "yes" to this little, gentle boy, was again the puppy test. However, during the eight weeks of raising our pups, it became clear that this brown marked, beautiful little puppy had other great characteristics, too that made him a good Golden Retriever.
In the first weeks of his life "Mr. Brown" was very careful. Later on, he was kind of a leader and initiator among his littermates in the learning of both useful and not so useful things.
We kept Chester from our first litter in summer 2010. He always had a very close bond to his family. At about 9 weeks old he followed his instincts and jumped over a little water stream just to be close to me. He was a pure hunting dog type golden retriever and a joy to train. One of his major “jobs” every fall was serving as pick up dog at European style tower shoots. I think folks will miss him in the future. We accomplished many things together, earned our SH and MH titles. Chester qualified for the MARC MAI three times which he passed in spring 2019 and 2021. He got invited to the Master Nationals in 2019 and finished all six series. Unfortunately, he didn’t get a pass.
Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Chester in November 2022. We didn’t expect this would come so soon but accepted the situation. We opted for non-treatment of his short condition of Lymphoma. Chester had never been sick his whole life and we are glad that he was a happy boy until he went to sleep in our arms. At twelve years of age, Chester was still happy to perform in the field up until I retired him in mid-August of 2022.
